Introduction
The Elemental Table is a collection of furniture designed for a high-end restaurant, featuring dining tables and work desks crafted from prefabricated aluminium extrusions and handcrafted London Plane timber legs. This design draws inspiration from the construction methods used in large-scale civil engineering projects, such as highways and bridges. By combining prefabricated, repeatable sections with bespoke, made-to-measure components, we created structures that are both rugged and adaptable.
The tables are made from high-grade aluminium channels bonded together with structural tape, while the legs are constructed from London Plane timber, sourced either from naturally fallen trees or as byproducts of construction in London. The wood’s richly varied grain and texture offer a decorative contrast to the industrial aluminium, ensuring each piece is unique. The design features a graphic section that visually illustrates how each element connects, presenting a straightforward assembly of parts.
The table design allows for adjustable legs, enabling multiple configurations to accommodate different seating arrangements and the option to combine tables. The 2.4-metres table can comfortably seat up to 10 people with lengths available up to 4 metres
