Introduction

A composer commissioned us to design a private, soundproof music studio in her North London garden. Given the small plot, we aimed to create a structure that enhances the garden rather than dominating it. A bifold door extends the studio’s function, offering a covered outdoor area that serves as a transition between the garden and the studio. To maximise the flexibility and usability of the interior, we incorporated a roof monitor window that diffuses natural light into the space while softening the building’s external appearance, making it blend more harmoniously with its surroundings.
